TRNC Population Registration Office
Project Details
- Within the scope of the digitalization project, the population registers and files located in the District Governorate Civil Registry Offices of Güzelyurt, İskele, and Girne were first examined on-site, placed in our institution's custom-covered archival boxes to prevent damage, and transported to the National Archives and Research Department where the digitalization would take place.
- Subsequently, the registers were carefully separated from their bindings one by one, classified, and scanning was performed. Restoration was carried out on damaged documents. All scanned documents were placed back into the same bindings, tied with sensitive threads, and placed into archival boxes provided by the National Archives and Research Department. They were stored in the cabinets of the National Archives and Research Department.
- All digitized documents were separated by individual, added under their identification numbers, and delivered to the Civil Registry Office. Furthermore, their physical location information was recorded in an Excel spreadsheet and delivered to the institution.
- The birth and death registers and surname certificates of the Güzelyurt, İskele, and Girne District Governorates have been regularly, cleanly, and meticulously transported, digitized, and safely preserved.
